a way to visualize specific knowledge

think of a sea of millions of facets of knowledge, each with a unique and exquisite way of gaining it; each requiring a unique personality for gaining it efficiently. some are skills, some theories, theories in different fields, some connected to a parent knowledge (biology -> botany, zoology, microbiology, genetics, ecology, molecular biology) etc.

now think of an angel sent by god to talk to you before you were born. god sent it with the following instructions:

  1. pick 7 pieces of knowledge randomly from this sea of knowledge
  2. go to everyone (just before they are born) and ask them: “these are 7 pieces of knowledge in a sea of billions god created. do you want them or no. i’m only going to ask this question to 25 more people concerning the same 5 pieces of knowledge and that’s all! so think carefully and answer!”

leveraging your specific knowledge is finding out what these “specific knowledge facets” you’re “blessed with”. “blessed?” forget about god.

the story was just an analogy. in reality, the idea is the exact same, but governed by your DNA, your upbringing and your unique experiences growing up. the combinatorics of this generates your specific knowledge.

“The combinatorics of human DNA and experience are staggering. You will never meet any two humans who are substitutable for each other.” - Naval

“People are multivariate. They have a lot of skills. One banker might be good at finance. Another one might be good at sales. A third one might be good at macroeconomic trends and have a feel for markets. Another one might be really good at picking individual stocks. Another might be good at maintaining relationships, rather than selling new relationships. Everyone’s going to have various niches. And you’re going to have multiple niches. It’s not going to be just one.”

Specific knowledge is knowledge you cannot be trained for. It is sort of this weird combination of unique traits from your DNA, your unique upbringing, and your response to it. It’s almost baked into your personality and your identity. Something that feels like a play to you but will feel like work to others. Specific Knowledge is really hard to figure out.
